How to Apply
We provide young people aged 14-19 with the skills and knowledge they need or a career in the creative and digital industries
Decide that Manchester Creative Studio is the place for you & register your interest+
Once you and your parent(s)/guardian(s)/carer(s) have decided that Manchester Creative Studio is the place where you want to take your GCSEs, you should complete the Register Your Interest form directly from the course Once we’ve received this form, a member of our Admissions Team will aim to contact your named parent/guardian/carer within 48 hours. If you have not heard from us within 5 working days it will be best to contact us.
Attend an interview+
Once we’ve confirmed your interest we will invite you and your parent(s)/guardian(s)/carer(s) to come and meet our Admissions Team and key members of Key Stage 4 teaching staff. This will be to have a chat about your why you want to come to Manchester Creative Studio, learn about your current creative interests for you to ask any specific questions related to life as a student here. You will also be taken on a tour of the building so you can see first-hand, the facilities on offer
Receive offer subject to references+
Once we are at this stage, you may receive an offer of a place at Manchester Creative Studio subject to receiving satisfactory references from your previous school.
Find your perfect course and register your interest+
Once you’ve found the course you want to study, you should complete the Register Your Interest directly from the course page. Once we’ve received this form, a member of our Admissions Team will aim to contact you within 48 hours. If you have not heard from us within 5 working days it will be best to contact us
Attend an interview & workshop+
Once we’ve confirmed your interest we will invite you to come and meet our course tutors and the Admissions Team. This will be to have a chat about your aspirations and career goals and gives both you and us the chance to get to know one another. You’ll be able to ask any specific course related questions you have as well as have a look around the facilities on offer. You will follow this with a short workshop led by the Course Tutor of the subject you wish to study
Receiving a conditional offer+
Once we are at this stage, the key thing for you is to focus on getting the grades we have asked for to get a place. When you have, you are all set for enrolment!
At Manchester Creative Studio we are developing an environment in which we want to challenge our students. As such, a positive attitude to studies as well as compulsory enrichment projects is crucial. We have a wide ranging offer including working on live employer briefs and access to industry placements. We reserve the right to take up references from your previous school that specifically make reference to attitude to learning, attendance and behavior. You may be involved with potential employers and they will want to see you are a committed and resilient student.
One of the key things we are looking for from new students is an interest in our two Media specialisms Film & TV and Games Design, or Graphic Design. You do not need to be an expert – we’ll put you on the right path to that, but you may love drawing and design; enjoy taking photographs using different filters on your Snapchat or Instagram, creative writing or maybe even making short films on your phone or computer. Wherever your creative interest lies, Manchester Creative Studio wants to hear about it, so please make sure you give as much information as possible when your register your interest in the form below.
Students that wish to join us at Year 10 will need their
parents to complete an application form
Key Stage 3
- To join MCS, you should be on course to achieve Level 5 or above in English & Maths in order to make sure you can fully access the GCSE course content
- If you are not currently at Level 5 in English and/or Maths but wish to apply, please contact the Admissions Team to discuss your application
Students that wish to join us at Sixth Form will need to complete an application form
- To join MCS, you should achieve a Grade 4 or above in English & Maths, plus a minimum of grades A* to C in at least three other subjects
- An A* to C grade in Art, Media, Graphics or Computer Science is also desirable though not essential to entry
